Do you need help with an ache or pain?

Aches and pains in the back and neck are the commonest reason people consult osteopaths. Back problems are caused by many different things. In the back there are muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones, joints, discs, nerves, lymphatic vessels, blood vessels, and  nerves. It is almost impossible for one of these to be affected in isolation. People ask me “is it just muscular?” Or “is it a joint problem?” The structures of the back are interconnected and so usually a number of structures are affected. For example, if there is a problem with a joint in the back that will also involve at least ligaments and nerves and almost always muscles and tendons as well. It is a common misconception that the joints of the spine suddenly pop out of position and all the osteopath has to do is ‘pop’ them back again. Unfortunately, it is not this simple, usually ligaments and muscles have been strained alongside the joint complex itself and take time to recover. Although there are many things that the osteopath can do to speed this up.

My personal approach is to use gentle methods of assisting the body, such as specific types of massage work, and other techniques which do not force the body but allow it to let go of tightness and misalignment with ease. I may use Osteopathy, InterX therapy, BEMER3000 therapy and the Inversion Table to assist in getting you better.
